Architainment Lighting and Sensacell join to launch new interactive technology at PLASA 2010
Architainment Lighting Ltd will be teaming up with Sensacell Inc at this month’s Professional Lighting and Sound Association (PLASA) Exhibition to launch the Sensacell M3016-16-RGB.
Nominated for a PLASA Award for Innovation, the Sensacell system is ideal for creating interactive brand experiences, combine the magical ‘touchless’ sensing capabilities with stunning color LED graphics and video, you then have the perfect platform for creating truly immersive interactive applications. Architects and designers love the flexibility of the Sensacell system because it plays well with so many architectural materials and can be elegantly integrated into floors, walls, stairs, elevators, kiosks and furniture.

Sensacell combines LED lighting with capacitive proximity sensors in the form of ‘tile like’ electronic modules that plug together forming architectural scale surfaces. Each module has an array of capacitive sensors that can detect persons and objects moving in proximity without physical contact- up to 150 mm/6 in from the surface. The sensing system can also sense directly through solid materials; the modules can be installed behind translucent architectural materials for a completely integrated installation.
The Sensacell M3016-16-RGB brings dramatic interactivity to architectural surfaces at low cost and makes designing interactive surfaces as simple as specifying lighting fixtures. In addition to its 16 interactive proximity sensors and high-brightness LEDs, each M3016-16-RGB module contains a sophisticated colour and behaviour synthesizer that can be individually customized.
The Sensa-Tools software interface allows the color, mood and movement of the interactive behaviour to be visualized, edited and downloaded for stand-alone operation. With an average power consumption of only 20 Watts per square meter, this system can be integrated into environments with minimal design impact and low operating cost.
